Get Router IP on Windows

There are two ways on how to get a router (default gateway) IP address on Windows OS. One is via “ipconfig” command and another is via the “Network Connections” dialog. Both of these ways are quick and efficient so you can use the one which is more comfortable for you.

Get Router IP using ipconfig

  • Open Windows “Start” menu and/or type “Command” in a search box.
  • Click on “Command Prompt”.
  • In a “Command Prompt” window type “ipconfig /all” and press Enter.
  • You will see an output which will list information abou your computer network adapters and their configuration. Look for a line with “Default Gateway” in it. This line will contain IP address of your router (default gateway).
  • Open your browser, enter this IP into an address bar and press Enter. You should see your router configuration login screen.

Get Router IP using “Network Connections”

  • Open Windows “Start” menu and/or type “Control Panel” in a search box.
  • Click on “Control Panel”.
  • Select “Network and Sharing Center” from a list of icons.
  • Click on a “Change Adapter Settings” item in the left side bar.
  • You will see a list with all network adapters on your computer. Double click on an active one (it will be marked in green).
  • You will see a pop-up window with a network adapter status. Click on a “Details” button under the connection details.
  • “Network connection details” pop-up window will open. Look for a line with IPv4 Default Gateway”. It will contain your router (default gateway) IP address.
  • Open your browser, enter this IP into an address bar and press Enter. You should see your router configuration login screen.
